Jesus taught on hell, and He did so to warn people not to go there. Hell is depicted in Scripture as a very nasty place from which there is no escape. The punishment of the wicked dead in hell is described throughout Scripture as “eternal fire” (Matthew 25:41), “unquenchable fire” (Matthew 3:12), “shame and everlasting contempt” (Daniel 12:2), a place where “the fire is not quenched” (Mark 9:44-49), a place of “torment” and “fire” (Luke 16:23-24), a place where “the smoke of torment rises forever and ever” (Revelation 14:10-11), and a “lake of burning sulfur” where the wicked are “tormented day and night forever and ever” (Revelation 20:10). Surely, a loving and compassionate Savior could not be so described if He failed to warn us about hell. But Jesus is certainly loving and compassionate, and He presented the joys and bliss of heaven and was clear about the only way to attain them. “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life,” He said. “No one comes to the Father but through me” (John 14:6). The apostle Paul was equally blunt about the fate of those who rejected the gospel of salvation through Christ alone. They are condemned to “everlasting destruction” (2 Thessalonians 1:8-9). It was with great sadness that I read the following article today on the Lighthouse Trails newsletter:
|Biblegateway Teaches Readers “Lectio Divina” – a Dangerous Gateway to a New Spiritual Outlook|

Over 48,000 websites link to or recommend Biblegateway. Needless to say, their reach is substantial. Thus, it is with dismay to report that on their official blog this past September, Biblegateway introduced their readers to the contemplative practice of Lectio Divina in an article written by Brian Hardin called “Lectio Divina: Diving Reading.” Continue reading|
Richard Bennett is a former Roman Catholic priest. If you have never seen his testimony, it is excellent and I will try to post it at some point. In this video he discusses what I feel to be a very important topic for today, and that is Catholic Mysticism and the Emerging Church.
A discerning Christian should note that the ecumenical movements of both the Roman Catholic Church and the Emerging Church combined with new age centering prayers and Purpose driven movements is drawing this world rapidly into the One World Religion scenario. Continue reading
David Hocking is one pastor I enjoy listening to very much through his “Hope for Today” ministry. He has an excellent 2 part series designed for Roman Catholics called “To Roman Catholics With Love”
I want to state here that I am not anti-catholic. I was raised one and have family members who still are ones. I love them so much but I have a great burden to show them the truth of their ways and teachings. Continue reading
